There's More to Nashville Than Music

Nashville Lodging in a Nutshell

Nashville article by If you love music, you're definitely going to love Nashville! Although the city is rather spread out, properties are concentrated in three main areas: East Nashville, which covers the Opryland area; Midtown Nashville, near "Music Row"; and Downtown Nashville, which includes the business district.

Every area of Nashville has its own unique attractions and a variety of lodging accommodations - both in price and type.

The busiest season for Nashville tourists runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day, so it's a good idea to make your reservations far in advance if you plan on visiting during that time. June is the wildest time of all for visitors due to the annual Fan Fair event that attracts more than 24,000 country music fans. Some people make their reservations for that week as much as a year in advance!

If you're not planning to drive to Nashville or rent a car once you're there, the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) offers about 40 bus routes citywide. The MTA also runs the Nashville Trolley Company downtown and in the Opryland area. Accessride provides door-to-door van service for disabled people who qualify. Taxis are available, but it's best to reserve a cab at least 30 minutes in advance. There are also River Taxis that connect the Opryland area with downtown. The experience is worth the price.

You won't go hungry in Nashville. The city offers virtually every type of restaurant imaginable: ethnic eateries; fine dining; barbecue joints; catfish houses; romantic bistros; and restaurants that are sure to delight the young ones.

Nashville is packed with interesting, educational, and fun-filled activities for individuals of all ages. You'll never be bored at night with the endless nightspots providing music. And there's so much to see and do during the day, you're likely to find yourself spending little time at your hotel except to collapse and catch a few hours sleep before the next day has you hustling around the city all over again.

The unique character of Nashville is not easily forgotten. Even if you aren't a country music fan upon arrival, chances are you'll have a whole new respect and interest in the country music industry when you leave.
