Resolved Question: Anyone been to Lanai? (Hawaii)?
I am aware of a great number of good travel review sites etc.. so I have those links already.. but I was curious if anyone here has been to Lanai and would maybe offer up a trip report. I am considering staying at the Four Seasons Lodge Koele since I like brisk evenings in mountain-y air. Plus I could always take the shuttle down to that other Four Seasons on the ocean if I felt like it.
I know its a very small, 'not-much-to-do' island, but the goal is to take about a 4-5 day trip and literally be an absolute pampered bum and chill.
I've already been to Big Island, Oahu, and Kauai on longer trips....
So trip reports.. please?

Resolved Question: Is there a way to travel and receive lodging and flight in exchange for work?
I'm currently 18 years old and am a senior in high school and I'm a little lost in life. I've been dealing with some hard times recently (dealing with depression) and just kind of want to get away for a while. I've always been extremely interested in Asian culture particularly Japan and would really enjoy visiting there, and it would be amazing to be able to the summer after graduation. However, my dilemma is that I am currently unemployed and do not have the cash for the flight, or the lodging. My question is, are there any ways to find people in Japan willing to take someone in and pay for the flight and provide a place to stay in exchange for some type of work. I have a cousin who a few years ago lived in hawaii for a few months being a nanny soon after high school. So I guess I'm looking for an opportunity like that. The family took care of the expenses and my cousin looked after the children for a few months. Are there any websites or other information that might be helpful to me? Any help is appreciated.

Resolved Question: Do you think it's right the Obamas spent $120,000 on lodging and $500,000 on Air Force One for their VACATION?
So for 10 days in Hawaii, the Obama's on lodging ALONE will be $40,000.
It is a given that the two mansions occupied in this taxpayer now pays for the Obama playmates and any relative not in Kenya vacation will also be $40,000 for the 10 days.
Grand total on lodging alone is $120,000. You would purchase 2 homes in Wadsworth, Ohio for that kind of money and throw a kegger besides to celebrate!
AS IN SPENT TAXPAYER MONEY!!!
Bush, Reagan? THEY WENT TO THEIR OWN HOUSES FOR VACATIONS

Resolved Question: Where is best place to live using TLA that allows pets? (2 cats) we are PCS-ing to Oahu, Hawaii.?
Husband & I and our 2 year old son are currently checking out TLA (temp. lodging allowance) friendly hotels in Oahu. Hubby is in Air Force and being stationed there Sept '09. We are having a hard time finding any that accept our 2 cats and also has a kitchenette of some kind. We will need to live there no more than 30 days while we look for a home. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks....fortunately we did know about the quarantine law for Hawaii (another fellow AF member told us in advance). I would leave our two cats here with family on the mainland before I would subject them to ANY quarantine! We have it all complete and they will be released to us directly from the airport. I do wish more people would know this though so their pet doesn't have to go through that!
We found a place that will take our two cats within our TLA that also has a fridge & microwave...no oven/stove though :( Guess we will be eating out ALOT until we find a home or until the base tells us they have a home for us. Not a bad thing considering we will be in paradise!
