Resolved Question: Where is the cheapest place to ski near Florida? (Tallahassee)?
Me and my college buddies are craving to go snowboarding since we haven't gone in awhile. Not everyone is able to shell out a lot of money to go to Colorado this year, and we just want something cheap and that will fulfill our craving.
So.... we want the cheapest, closest place to us in Tallahassee Florida.
(cheapest meaning lift tickets and snowboard rentals, no lodging. We are accustomed to camping in sub zero temps). Ideas?

Resolved Question: I'm trying to find some great hot springs in New Mexico?!? Anybody know of any?
My boyfriend and I are planning a trip for spring break. Originally we had planned on going to Colorado and going to the hot springs in Steamboat Springs because we have been there before and we absolutely loved it. Then we realized if we find a hot springs in New Mexico, it will cut our lodging and our gas bill in half (we live in Texas.) The problem is I'm having a hard time finding websites that give very much information on the hot springs in New Mexico. Anyone have any experience? Or at least have any good websites to get information??

Resolved Question: What do U think people find illegal knocking on doors for someone who could help him call U.S to deport him.?
Juan R. Alvarado may receive a free trip to Central America courtesy of the United States.
Alvarado, 32, left Honduras in his 20s to make a better life for himself and his parents by sending home his earnings, Saginaw County Sheriff’s Detective Mike Gomez said. He said Alvarado, with his elderly parents ill and thousands of miles away, hoped the police could help him return to them.
Police detained Alvarado on Monday after a resident reported a non-English-speaking Hispanic male was knocking on doors at Waterside Apartments, 4070 Green Isle Way, north of McCarty and east of Barnard in Saginaw Township. Gomez said Alvarado, who lived in Saginaw Township, was trying to find someone who could help him call U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement so that he would be deported.
“I didn’t want money, I want someone to help me get to Honduras,” Gomez said Alvarado told him in Spanish.
When police asked Alvarado for identification, he showed them an expired card issued in Honduras in 1997, said Saginaw Township Police Lt. Gary P. Grauf.
“He was hoping the Saginaw Township police would have him deported,” said Gomez, who served as Alvarado’s translator. “He hasn’t been able to find work in a long time.”
Alvarado was lodged in the Saginaw County Jail on immigration violation charges until Tuesday, Gomez said. That’s when U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials from Detroit picked him up, Grauf said.
“We’re not a travel agency,” said Khaalid Walls, a customs spokesman. “He’ll begin removal proceedings, and if a judge decides he is here illegally, we’ll enforce his removal.”
Walls said Alvarado could be jailed for months awaiting a determination.
“He’s going to sit in their jail for weeks,” said Gomez, basing his estimate on previous dealings with the agency. “There’s no guarantee he’ll get back to Honduras anytime soon.”
Gomez said the agency generally waits until it has detained enough illegal immigrants to deport at the same time to increase cost efficiency. Based on past experience, Gomez said the agency usually doesn’t pick up illegal immigrants unless they’ve done something wrong or broken laws unrelated to immigration.
Alvarado made his way north, crossed the southern U.S. border and headed for the Great Plains states, Gomez said.
“He was originally living in Colorado, working as a laborer, just taking what jobs he could find,” Gomez said. “He met a woman named Maria, who is originally from Mexico, and she convinced him to come to Saginaw, and he’s been here for two years.”
Gomez didn’t know the status of Alvarado’s relationship with the woman.
“There was nothing to keep him here, because he couldn’t find a job or make any money to send home to his family,” Gomez said. “He was just hoping they would let him take his things with him when he’s deported.”
There were 11.6 million estimated illegal immigrants in the U.S. as of February 2008, the most recent data available through the U.S. Department of Immigration Statistics. Michigan had about 70,000 illegal immigrants at last count a decade ago

Resolved Question: What's best: the north rim or the south rim of the Grand Canyon?
I will be driving to the Grand Canyon from Denver, Colorado during the week of May 29-June 6th.
I will be camping so lodging is not a necessity, and I would like to hike.
I've heard that the North Rim is less crowded, which appeals to me, but I've also heard that the South Rim has a far better view. Any suggestions?

Resolved Question: Ski Trip Parent Worries?
My friend and I have planned everything out for a ski trip for us and 4 other people to Salida, CO from Hutchinson, KS. Everything from route, lodging (already made reservations), gas pricing, when we will be where, what we will be doing, and what we will do if we can't go because of weather and closed roads.
My parents have, however, thrown a wrench into the gears of everything, because you see we were planning on taking my car and my friend's car. My car seats 7 people safely seat belted, or holds a lot of luggage (its a station wagon). My friends car will probably just be good for holding 4 people, and a small amount of luggage. My parents have just told me that I can't take my car, because they don't believe its safe for me to drive in the mtns during March. I am the most experienced driver in the group, and have the most reliable and justifiable car for taking on the trip. It will be very difficult, if we can not take my car.
The driving mostly keeps us on Hwy 70, and takes us through ONE mtn pass. They cannot stop me personally from going because I am 18, but they can take away my car. I have already told them that it make the trip more dangerous by not letting me take my car, because I have the most reliable car and I am the best driver of the group. I have also told them that if the weather didn't work out we wouldn't go. I have also told them that Colorado is very good about keeping their roads maintained, because they do have bad weather at times, and they are used to it.
What else can I do to convince my parents that this trip is not the death trap that they have envisioned? More importantly, what can I do to let them let me take my car? I personally think that I have more VALID reasons towards my cause, than they have against my cause. They have as of yet, failed to produce a valid reason as to why this trip is so dangerous, other than roads.
I have talked with people who live there as well as people who have traveled there before, and all of them have told me that I have nothing to worry about as far as roads are concerned.
Oh and I am only looking for HELPFUL advice. Not you, telling me that my parents are correct and I should just grow up. Thanks.
PLEASE DONT COMMENT IF YOU HAVE NOTHING HELPFUL TO SAY. THANK YOU!
Oh and btw MOMSEZNO, the next time someone says they only want helpful answers and you don't have any, DON'T COMMENT! Thanks.
Oh and to all of you parents who are thinking about telling me whats for just like my parents did to me, I AM STILL GOING ON THE TRIP. Not having a car will not stop me.
I have been driving since i was 14.

Resolved Question: Where do you recommend I go snowboarding in Colorado?
Planning a trip with two of my buddies. All of us are advanced-expert experienced skiers/riders. Looking for a place to go in Colorado that is equivocal to Heavenly or Squaw Valley in size/difficulty but also won't break the bank when it comes to lodging. I also don't want to have to rent a car to get from the airport to the resort if I don't have to. Any suggestions?

Voting Question: Poll: Do you ever feel like a different person after you take a shower?
lol, I do right now! It's like the world makes sense and I know exactly what I want in order to be happy.
Right now, I'm feeling like I wanna be somewhere warm, like miami, orlando, la, san fran, or san deigo...
I wanna feel the warm breeze, the fresh air, hear the city, be in the middle of the crowd...
Or i wanna be in colorado, relaxing in a lodge after a long day of skiing...
Or maybe in the desert at dusk or dawn... in the twilight... If I were in any of these places, I would feel like I am in an eternal shower... my dream.

Resolved Question: looking for a romantic mountain getaway spot?
my boyfriend and i are looking to take a vacation this winter and we would like to go to someplace wintery, like a mountain resort or lodge or something like that. we were thinking of someplace like Colorado/Wyoming/Montana, etc. (in the united states!) however, we don't know of any good places to go and searching online is not doing much good. we want to know of a place that it a little secluded and romantic but a place where there is still stuff to do that a couple can enjoy (hopefully a place with a hot tub also). we are not looking for a ski resort because we wont be doing any skiing while we are on vacation. maybe next time but this time we are just looking for a relaxing getaway. our budget isnt super cheap but we cant afford a $3000 a week place either. any help and suggestions would be great.
